January has been amazing so far. Like really amazing, not for any particular reason. Maybe because it's a new year and everything just seems hopeful.
I survived the first week of school. I'm taking my heaviest course load so far in my college career: 6 classes.. but I like some of my classes so I survived. I love my Startup Seminar especially. You'll probably hear me talk a lot about that throughout the semester.
I had a really unproductive three day weekend. But I spent it with my friends, so I guess it was good. I need to step my productivity up, especially if this is going to be a 4.0 semester!
Today, I ordered my first detailed Starbucks drink. First of all, I thought I was done with Starbucks since it's overpriced but the pumpkin bread was calling my name in all it's unhealthiness and I couldn't resist. So I got that and a grande sugar-free vanilla non-fat chai tea bag custom tea latte. I know, judge me. Usually I read my drink straight off the menu, but I wanted my chai tea latte to be as low fat as possible and tada!
God is absolutely amazing! This month I've really tried to dig deeper in the Word and know Jesus better and he's absolutely revealing himself. I spend car rides listening to Christian music and I challenge anyone who wants to seek God more and immerse themselves in his love to try that out. I didn't realize how much of an effect music had but listening to MercyMe, Chris Tomlin or gospel day after day has done something quite amazing for my perspective and relationship with others.
I want to write an ode to sweet potatoes, but I'll spare ya'll. But you should know that sweet potatoes are like rainbows in your mouth. I eat a lot of sweet potatoes: baked, mashed, boiled. And the other evening, I had a baked sweet potato topped with cinnamon and light brown sugar for dinner and it was so amazing I wanted to sing. Like I said, I love sweet potatoes. Something that good shouldn't be good for you... but it is!
Textbooks are expensive.
A few weeks ago, I shot with Sanetra Stewart and she's gorgeous. It was a no makeup natural shoot and at first I started to upload the photos as I edited them, but I'm going to wait until I'm completely done then post them all together. Trying out new things.
I'm going to have a couple of really random blog posts coming soon.
It's pretty awesome to meet people who read your blog. And you have no idea who they are, but they read your blog and then you meet in person randomly at like the store and it makes you feel like you're kind of maybe just a little bit important.
I think 2013 is the year of stepping out of my comfort zone. What many of you probably don't know is that I'm super shy. I don't like audiences or really putting myself out there. I'm making the decision that I refuse to think of myself as shy ever again. I'm making efforts to take that trait out of my personality.
Right now, I'm blogging instead of doing my Matrices homework.
This guy, is my role model for the day. Because he's super creative. I'm pretty excited that we'll be working for the same company this summer and maybe he'll be in Seattle and we can like... go for coffee. I don't really drink coffee though, maybe tea.
A lot of my sentences in this post began with "I". My high school english teachers would be so disappointed. For this sentence, I tried to start it with something different.
Okay, I really should do this assignment and crash. I hope everyone is having a great month!
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jer. 29:11

Yes! The textbook struggle is REAL this semester. And I'm an art major, so I don't know why....But anyhow, I'm glad you're off to a great start with your semester. My second "first day of classes" is tomorrow (:
ReplyDeleteTotally just thought you were talking about me but then I realized that we did not meet at the store, it was all planned out by the wonderful Miss Adebo. But back to the point you are important, when you have people that want to know about your life and are typing 'lovedarbie.com' everyday in any random computer simply because we are sincerely interested in your life. Meeting you was an awesome experience and it took me back to posts like this, ones that I want to be confident enough to post. I have not updated my blog in awhile and I just throw things up there but if you want you can take a look at it. iwillrunwithscissors.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteWhy did I never see this!! I was SO fortunate to have met you and uh your blog is awesome, post more!
DeleteLooks like the year is unfolding just the way it should. Hope your relationship with Christ continues to bloom and your faith increases. The bible verse you ended with is one of my fave passages. Love it.

Good luck with school. I've taken the maximum amount in undergrad and I'm currently taking the maximum amount in graduate school so I definitely feel you. We WILL have 4.0 semesters!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Starbucks. *hides head in shame*
This year has definitely been so rewarding to me and not once did I wonder what I did to deserve everything that has happened. When you make room for your blessings as God wants you to, you are more than deserving to receive those blessings.
May I ask which book are you reading?
Which book were you referring to?! And, you need to go to Starbucks, like asap. It's overpriced and completely hyped but some of their stuff is awesome. Amen to everything you said, I'm just thanking God as the blessings continue to come in. I'm glad your year is going amazing as well!
