Guess what I forced myself up and out of bed at 6am to go do?... Spin! I am not a morning person and had the biggest internal debate about whether to leave the comfort of my bed. After about my 3rd alarm went off (I set five alarms in 5 minute intervals since I like to ignore my alarm) the desire to stay in shape prevailed. I've been trying to add some variety to my workouts and attending an indoor cycling class was at the VERY top of my list. My school had been having free pilates, yoga, zumba, and spinning (cycling) classes all week and I couldn't pass up that opportunity!
If you don't know what indoor spinning class is, it's best described by journalist Jessica Napier as "kind of like burning calories in a night club except you’re pedaling instead of grinding and that water you’re chugging down doesn’t have any vodka in it."
So there I was -- half asleep, head wrapped and all, driving to campus to endure a Power 40 (a 40 minute intense session). Thank God for my friend who was more than willing to try it out with me. Our instructor was super sweet and the class was pretty small (I'm guessing due to the fact that it was 7am). She got the music started and then the fun began. It was definitely intense but probably the most fun I've ever had doing cardio.
The music was my favorite part and her playlist went perfectly along with our intervals (really upbeat when we were going in hard and mellow tracks during recovery). The are tons of cycling playlists on the web, like this one here. If you're looking for a fun and intense (mainly the latter) workout, try spinning! And someone should purchase me a "texercise pass" for the semester since... the free trials ended today :/
Happy Fitness Friday :)

Yey for Spinning! I take the class at my gym once a week and if it wasn't for my best friend Asia, I probably wouldn't go as often! So I definitely know the feeling! I'm getting a new bike in two weeks and will be hitting the beach with it once a week or every other week! Thanks for sharing some more fitspiration, as it's always encouraging hearing others living and going for it! Whatever that 'it' may be ;].

Good luck with your class. I am entirely too lazy to do any type of exercise routine, but I do hope to change that soon once I get my equipment set up at home.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try a spin class! That's something my campus doesn't offer unfortunately. Good luck!
